Did you know...

In the author’s family, opening day of baseball is a big deal.  Every year, she bakes a baseball-shaped cake with red licorice stitching, grills burgers, and allows the game on TV during dinner.  And after they say grace, the family sings “Take Me Out to The Ballgame.”

The author enjoys sports, but is so bad at playing them that a poor phy-ed grade ruined her bid for salutatorian in high school.
